Why the range is more useful than one ideal number

Two adults of the same height can have different frames, muscle mass and health profiles. EKCal therefore shows the full BMI-based healthy-weight range and a midpoint for reference rather than claiming one perfect weight.

Use BMI with other information

Waist measurement, blood pressure, fitness, medical history and laboratory results can add context. Athletes with substantial muscle may have a higher BMI without the same body-fat level.

Frequently asked questions

What is a healthy BMI?

For adults 20 and older, CDC categories place 18.5 to 24.9 in the healthy-weight range.

Does BMI measure body fat?

No. It uses only weight and height, so muscularity and body-fat distribution are not directly measured.

Is BMI suitable for children?

No. Children and teens require age- and sex-specific BMI percentiles.

Can I be healthy outside the BMI range?

BMI is one screening measure. Health assessment also considers waist, blood pressure, laboratory results, fitness, history and other factors.

EKCal provides planning estimates, not diagnosis or treatment. Results should be checked against real-world trends and adjusted gradually.
