Editorial Policy
This policy explains how EKCal prepares and maintains educational health and nutrition content.
Scope
EKCal covers calorie estimation, food portions, exercise energy expenditure, BMI, BMR, TDEE, macros and general weight-management behaviors. We do not publish personalized diagnoses or prescribe treatment.
Source preference
We prefer primary or authoritative sources such as government health agencies, public nutrient databases, published equations and recognized public-health guidance. Commercial pages may be used only for product-specific labels, not as the main evidence for health claims.
Writing standards
- Important estimates are labelled as estimates.
- Uncertainty and individual variation are explained.
- Headlines should match the page and avoid sensational promises.
- We do not invent authors, qualifications, testimonials or review credentials.
- Medical red flags and special populations are directed to qualified care.
Calculator standards
Calculators show the formula or method when practical. They use adult screening equations and cannot account for every factor affecting metabolism or health. Results are rounded to avoid false precision.
Food data standards
Food values use standard composition references and practical portion estimates. Restaurant and homemade foods are clearly described as variable. Package labels and recipe calculations take priority when available.
Review and corrections
Pages carry a reviewed date. Material errors are corrected as soon as reasonably possible. See the Corrections Policy or email bugridez@gmail.com.
Advertising independence
Advertising may help fund the site, but advertisers do not write editorial content or receive a promise of favorable coverage. Ads should be visually distinguishable from content.
