Macro calculator
Turn a calorie target into practical protein, carbohydrate and fat goals, including an estimated amount per meal.
Calculate macros
Enter a daily calorie target and choose a preset. EKCal sets protein from body weight, then allocates fat and carbohydrates.
Macros are rounded. Food labels and actual meals will not land on the numbers perfectly every day.

How EKCal sets macros
The calculator first assigns protein using body weight. It then assigns fat or carbohydrate depending on the selected preset, with the remaining calories going to the third macro. Protein and carbohydrate contain about 4 kcal per gram; fat contains about 9 kcal per gram.
Choose a preset based on adherence
The best macro setup is one that helps you stay within calories, eat enough protein and maintain energy. People who enjoy rice, fruit and bread may prefer balanced macros; others may prefer a somewhat lower-carbohydrate pattern.
Use ranges, not perfection
A practical approach is to prioritize calories and protein, keep fat above a reasonable minimum, and let carbohydrates vary with preference and activity. Tracking apps and labels also contain rounding errors.
Frequently asked questions
What are macros?
Macronutrients are protein, carbohydrate and fat. They provide calories and serve different roles in the diet.
Which macro split is best?
There is no single best split. A useful plan meets protein and essential-fat needs while fitting food preferences and calorie goals.
Do macro percentages matter more than calories?
For weight change, total energy remains important. Macros influence fullness, performance, food choice and muscle retention.
Should I hit macros exactly every day?
No. Treat them as planning targets. A close weekly pattern is usually more realistic than perfect daily numbers.
Method and sources
EKCal provides planning estimates, not diagnosis or treatment. Results should be checked against real-world trends and adjusted gradually.
